Pakistan is one of only 3 countries in the world where the polio virus is still endemic. The other two countries being Nigeria and Afghanistan. The mass murders of polio health workers and terrible law and order situation in the tribal areas bordering Afghanistan means that this year there were 240,000 children who were not vaccinated. The government's inability to properly educate the masses and provide security cover to social health workers means that the end to this epidemic is nigh in sight.
